Some Everton fans react as Richarlison tells David Neres to head to Goodison Park

The current Everton forward is currently on Copa America duty with the Toffees target.

The Liverpool Echo have conducted an attention-grabbing interview with Everton striker Richarlison following Brazil’s opening game victory over Bolivia at the Copa America.

The Everton forward, who joined the club from Watford last summer, was asked about his hopes of Everton potentially signing international team-mate David Neres from Ajax. The report references £40 million interest in the player from the Toffees.

Richarlison was clearly very open to the idea.

“I’ve spoken to him about it already. I told him the doors are open for him there, and that he could help us a lot.

“I hope he comes. He’d be very welcome there. I’ve known him since we played together for Brazil’s U20 side, and he’s a guy I get along with really well. Hopefully, I’ll see him there.”

Neres was also asked about his transfer situation this summer by the publication but remained diplomatic and respectful to current club Ajax by saying very little.

So it was Richarlison’s comments which gained the biggest reaction among fans.

Neres had an exceptional season with Ajax last season. He helped the club win the Dutch domestic double and come within minutes of a remarkable Champions League final appearance.

Everton have been tentatively linked with his signature throughout the summer. Everton director of football Marcel Brands’ links to Dutch football could certainly help a deal. So it is not outside the realms of possibility. However, some Everton fans still remain skeptical that a Champions League semi-finalist would decide to switch his current club for the project at Goodison Park. Here is some of the best reaction from Twitter…
