Some Everton fans raging after 'shocking' VAR decision during Aston Villa draw
Some Everton fans were raging at the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) after Tyrone Mings stayed on the field for what looked like a certain red card.
With the scores level at 0-0, the centre-back wents studs-up onto the leg of Dominic Calvert-Lewin, however, after a lengthy check by the VAR official, the defender faced no repercussions.
The goalless draw means the Blues move ahead of Arsenal into eighth place in the Premier League, but, fall further behind in their bid for Champions League football.
Everton have already suffered VAR heartache once in recent weeks after Josh King had a goalbound header blocked by Craig Dawson’s arm on the line in the Merseysider’s 1-0 win over the Hammers last weekend.
The use of VAR in the top-flight this season has been nothing short of a farce and yesterday’s game produced yet another error to be added to the catelogue.
How Mings escaped a red card for what was a high and dangerous tackle is extremely baffling to say the least.
Here is how fans reacted to the Mings challenge…
JOKE! HOW?! How has VAR not given a red card for that?

Still can’t get over this, OK, in real time the ref could miss it but VAR was in play, shocking. Goal line technology kept Villa up last season when it failed and now it’s gone in their favour again. Can the @fa still ban Mings retrospectively? pic.twitter.com/YEFXEK9bpQ

🟣 A Villa 0-0 Everton 🔵
Solid defensive display but ultimately a reflection of the season, lack of quality when chance to progress up table & apply pressure on teams above
That could well be that re European football
🥴 what did VAR see when Mings took DCL out btw?#EFC
