Some Everton fans dispute Ancelotti Pickford decision after Olsen debut

Some Everton fans have questioned Carlo Ancelotti, after the manager said that Jordan Pickford will be brought back into the starting XI against Manchester United.

The England number one was dropped for a Premier League game for first time since joining the club yesterday, after some questionable form recently.

Ancelotti instead handed Robin Olsen his debut against Newcastle United, and the Swede had a good game between the sticks.

The star, on loan from AS Roma, made two particularly great saves – one in the first half from Allan Saint-Maximin and one from Sean Longstaff in the second.

There was nothing he could do for Wilson’s two goals, and so the 30-year-old emerged from the game with credit, where most of his teammates were criticised by supporters.

Strangely though, Ancelotti had said before the game that Pickford would come back in to play against United, somthing he reiterated after the game.

He said (Mirror): “The reaction of Jordan was a player who understood he wouldn’t play today. I explained I wanted to give Robin an opportunity and he will be back the next game against United.

“Olsen played well and he will play again. But not for the game against United. Why is it complicated? Not for me.”

Ancelotti’s decision to bring back £30 million star Pickford (BBC Sport), especially after the performance of Olsen yesterday, has flummoxed some Everton supporters on social media:
