Some Celtic fans react to links with Mbaye Niang

Some Celtic fans have reacted to links with Rennes ace Mbaye Niang.

According to Foot Mercato, the Senegalese striker is a target for the Glasgow giants. However, the Bhoys will be competing with Nottingham Forest and Anderlecht, who are also keen on the France-born player.

Niang has endured a tough time following his exit from AC Milan. He has bounced from club to club and spent the second half of last season on loan with Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia. The centre-forward scored just once last term, for Rennes in Ligue 1.

Niang’s form not what it was

Niang has lost his ways in recent years amid links with a move to Celtic.

The forward first burst onto the scene at the start of the 2010s and immediately made a move to the San Siro.

For a striker, he isn’t the most potent of players, scoring just 63 times in 288 games across all competitions.

The 26-year-old would be an underwhelming replacement for Odsonne Edouard should the Frenchman leave Celtic this summer.
