A number of Celtic fans have reacted on Twitter to Kieran Tierney’s comments about his time with the Hoops and his decision to make the move from Parkhead to Arsenal.
Tierney, a boyhood Celtic supporter, joined the Bhoys aged seven and rose through the ranks before making his debut in April 2015 and enjoying his first-team breakthrough in 2015-16.
The 22-year-old made 170 appearances for Celtic, notching up eight goals and 37 assists along the way, and lifted four Scottish Premiership titles, two Scottish Cups and two Scottish League Cups.
However, Tierney’s decision to swap Parkhead for the Emirates Stadium proved unpopular with many Hoops fans, who hoped he would have helped make history in Glasgow’s east end.
The Scotland international gave the following answer on a Reddit Q&A – shared on Arsenal’s official website – about his decision to swap his boyhood club for a move to the Premier League.
“I would say leaving Celtic was the hardest decision I’d ever had to make and I knew I would always miss Celtic no matter what happens in life,” he replied.
“But the chance to play for Arsenal was a challenge that when I heard of it, I was just looking forward to it.”
Despite his continued affection for Celtic, some fans still haven’t forgiven him for making the switch when he did.
Here is some of the social media response:
Who cares, he’s just some guy that played for our team for a wee while. He was a good player though.

he is only 22.. he could of stayed for at least another 6 seasons.. captain the team for a while and then eventually move on leaving as a club legend.. and he could of then went down south with the rest of his career ahead of him still
