Some Celtic fans act with relief after Duffy’s nightmare loan spell comes to an end

Some Celtic fans were breathing a sigh of relief after it was announced that Shane Duffy had been sent back to Brighton and Hove Albion from his loan spell at the club.

It was announced that the center-back was sent back to the Premier League side after picking up an injury that would’ve seen him miss the Scottish Premiership against St Johnstone and Hibernian.

The defender has been a hugely expensive flop for the Bhoys this season, costing the Glasgow outfit over £3m in loan fees. His performances have been less than impressive with former ‘keeper Alan Rough voicing his confusion over how the move has flopped so badly.

Celtic have endured a disastrous campaign by all accounts, failing to retain their league crown and sitting a mammoth 23 points behind their Glasgow rivals Rangers.

After a season which has seen Duffy go from bad to worse, it proves incredibly logical that the club would let him return to Brighton.

His performances have been less than desirable to say the least and a permanent contract was never going to be an option.
