Some Aston Villa fans want to see Callum O'Hare get his chance
Aston Villa drew 2-2 with Stoke City yesterday and it was clear that they missed the creative spark of Jack Grealish at times. The midfielder had a shin injury which ruled him out of the game and the balance of Aston Villa’s midfield suffered as a consequence.
Glenn Whelan slotted into a defensive midfield role and Conor Hourihane moved forward. Whilst none of the players had particularly bad games, the midfield was perhaps too defensive in nature and invited pressure from the visiting Potters.
After the game, plenty of Aston Villa fans were asking the same question. If Grealish was not available, why not hand Callum O’Hare a chance?

The 20-year-old has been compared to Grealish by many for their similar playing styles and appearance. Also a Solihull lad, he has been the star of Aston Villa’s under-23 side for some time now and has the attacking guile and mindset that Aston Villa perhaps lacked in Grealish’s absence.
O’Hare has been knocking on the first-team door for some time now and fans at Villa Park rate the youngster very highly.
Dean Smith decided not to give him a chance, even from the bench, and that certainly left some Aston Villa fans disappointed.
Hopefully, in the weeks to come, O’Hare will begin to get his chance as an alternative to Grealish. There’s no doubt a lot of Aston Villa fans would like that to be the case.
Is O’Hare ready to step up in this league? #avfc

Really missed grealish today. Someone needs to step up and take their chance. Whelan not good enough. Not attacking enough and not defensive enough so may as we’ll replace him with another attack minded midfielder.. O’hare? #avfc

How has Whelan stayed on this long? Midfield has been terrible today, no faith in O’Hare from Smith #avfc

Disappointed O’hare never came on. Hourihane was awful all game and stayed on. #AVfc

We need O’Hare on and Hourihane deeper. McGinn needs to get back on set pieces. Not sure why he doesn’t take any and Whelan does. #avfc

I really hope Deano has the confidence is O’Hare to chuck him in the deep end. If there’s one playing in our youth ranks that will succeed in this system it’s Callum #AVFC

Villa really missing the extra creativity from Grealish in the first half. If it stays like this I def think O’Hare will get a few mins to try and be the difference #avfc
