Some Arsenal fans express their delight after reported update on David Luiz’s hamstring injury

Arsenal fans have voiced their happiness after a positive report emerged over the fitness of David Luiz following his hamstring injury in the clash against Newcastle United.

The Brazilian was forced off at the start of the second half in the win over Steve Bruce’s men, with Mikel Arteta claiming the issue wasn’t ‘good news’ during his post-match interview.

However, in a report from the Daily Mail, it has been claimed that there is optimism from the club over a return to action for the 34-year-old before the end of this season.

Luiz had only just returned from a minor knee injury when he started in last Sunday’s Premier League clash against the Magpies. His new injury will come as a bitter blow to the Gunners, who go into Thursday’s Europa League semi-final second leg 2-1 down to Unai Emery’s Villarreal.

With Luiz’s stand-ins, Rob Holding and Gabriel Magalhaes, leaving a lot to be desired in terms of passing from deep, the veteran’s return, prior to his injury last Sunday, was a god-send for the Gunners.

However, the news surrounding a potential return before the end of the season may well delight Arsenal supporters with the side looking to return to the Champions League.

Here is what a few Arsenal fans had to say as they expressed their excitement at the update over the South American’s fitness:
