Some Arsenal fans react to report Real Madrid could send Martin Odegaard out on loan again
Some Arsenal fans have been reacting online to reports by El Partidazo de COPE over the future of Martin Odegaard.
The Spanish publication claim Real Madrid could send Odegaard back out on loan in the summer transfer window. Los Blancos are striving to refresh their ranks as Carlo Ancelotti is set to adopt a squad overflowing their limits.
Odegaard’s return to the La Liga giants will therefore hinge on how many players leave Madrid. Takefusa Kubo and Brahim Diaz currently face uncertain futures with loan exits the most likely.
Roma also want Borja Mayoral but are unable to pay the €15million (£13m) that Real are demanding for his transfer. That goes for Real Betis and their desires for Dani Ceballos, as well, after he refused to accept another loan move.
Real Madrid have not ruled out adding new faces to Ancelotti’s squad, either. Doing so could see Odegaard shuffled even closer to the exit door with Marcelo expected to stay.
Odegaard being made available for a loan may be welcomed at the Emirates as Arsenal work to retain the Norwegian. That’s after the Gunners were set a €60m (£5.15m) asking price for a permanent deal, per Defensa Central.
But a fee in that region would take a sizable dent out of Mikel Arteta’s budget, should the funds be available. Another loan may be preferred, then, for a player who wants to stay in north London. That’s because he has been impressed by the Arsenal manager and feels respected at the club.
Arsenal fans unsure on Odegaard return
But Arsenal fans reacting on social media to claims that Odegaard may be available on loan are unsure if their side should pursue a deal. A few feel it would be a mistake for the Gunners to bring the 22-year-old back on another temporary deal.
Instead, some would prefer Arsenal pursue permanent deals, with Norwich City’s Emi Buendia linked with a £40m move (Independent).
Yet others would gladfully welcome the 28-cap international back to the Emirates after his successful six-month stay this year. Odegaard scored twice and offered two assists in 20 games under Arteta, as he cut out an often pivotal role.
