A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to comment on Emile Smith Rowe’s impressive display for the Gunners Under-23s last night.
The 20-year-old scored a brace against Blackburn U23s in a 6-0 win at Leyland, a much-needed victory for Steve Bould’s side.
Arsenal U23s had gone into the Premier League 2 game bottom of the 13-team table, having failed to win any of their last seven league games, but climbed to 11th after the win.

The young Gunners led 1-0 at half time through 18-year-old striker Nikolaj Moller, who tapped home on the rebound after Antonis Stergiakis kept out Folarin Balogun’s shot.
Arsenal were quick out of the blocks after the interval and Catalin Cirjan soon made it two with a powerful long-range effort which cannoned in off the underside of the bar.
Smith Rowe then grabbed a quickfire brace, slamming one effort home from six yards out after being picked out by Balogun, and then beating Stergiakis at the back post from a right-wing cross.
Aside from his goals, the playmaker also provided ammunition, with one delivery finding its way into the back of the net via Rovers defender Dan Pike.
Moller, a summer signing from Malmo, then wrapped up the scoring with virtually the last kick of the game.
A much-improved performance from Arsenal, and given how some fans have been calling for Smith Rowe to get senior game time, his goalscoring display was highly praised on social media.
Here is some of the reaction:
Smith Rowe is widely considered one of the best talents at the Emirates Stadium and made six first-team appearances for the Gunners in all competitions last season, though he’s yet to feature at senior level this term.
