Some Arsenal fans react to club announcement on 'exciting' player who is 'better than White'
Arsenal have confirmed that centre-back Dan Ballard has joined Millwall on loan for next season.
The Gunners announced on their official website that the 21-year-old Northern Ireland international will play for the east London side for the 2021/22 Championship campaign.
Ballard enjoyed a productive spell with Blackpool last season. The youngster was key to the Tangerines gaining promotion to the second-tier of English football via the play-offs.
The youngster is well regarded at Arsenal and there were even rumours that the defender could have stayed with the club for pre-season. However, Mikel Arteta and academy director Per Mertesacker have made the decision to send Ballard off on loan.
Furthermore, Arsenal are likely to sign a defender this summer, with the Daily Mail reporting that the Gunners are inching closer to signing Ben White. The Brighton and Hove Albion centre-back is currently with England for Euro 2020.
Indeed, the Gunners will move on plenty of players in the window. Moreover, supporters on social media are happy to see Ballard head to Millwall on loan for the season.
Here’s what some fans had to say on Twitter about the centre-back joining the London side for the year…
Said it before but imo Ballard’s the best CB we’ve had come through the academy in a while, I like him a lot. A Championship loan is exciting. https://t.co/xZ9W8LZGcr
