Some Arsenal fans reacted on Twitter after Mikel Arteta gave his verdict on Granit Xhaka.

What’s the story?

The Gunners boss has claimed the Switzerland international will stay at the club this summer.

Xhaka came off the bench in Arsenal’s 2-1 loss at home to Chelsea in the Mind Series.

He replaced Thomas Partey, who limped off injured after a challenge from Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

The central midfielder has been linked with a move to AS Roma all summer long. It was recently claimed the Italian side had failed to make a suitable offer for the ace.

And now it seems a move is off altogether if Arteta is to be believed.

When talking about Xhaka, the Arsenal manager, Arteta, said: “Granit is going to stay with us. He’s a player that we rate and value so much, he’s a key member of our squad. He’s trained two days. He wanted to play today and I think it’s very clear commitment from his side that he wants to be here.”

Arteta’s comments about Xhaka is brilliant news for the club.

The midfielder has been a force of consistency since the start of the year. His performances in the heart of the Arsenal midfield have made him one of the most crucial cogs in the team.

And without a suitable replacement available on the market, selling him would have been disastrous.

Ruben Neves is reportedly a target for the club, but, his performances have been lacklustre in recent months.
