Arsenal are close to confirming the signing of Belgian youngster Albert Sambi Lokonga. And the midfielder has reportedly already chosen his kit number.
Acording to DH Net, the 21-year-old R.S.C. Anderlecht start will wear the number 48 shirt for the Gunners.
The number is a tribute to Lokonga’s place of birth, Verviers. Indeed, the Belgian city has a zip code of 4800.

Moreover, new Arsenal signing Lokonga will become the first-ever player to professionally wear the number 48 shirt for the north London side.
Indeed, whilst former youth stars Sead Hajrovic and Mark Randall were appointed the shirt, neither player officially took to the field wearing the number.
Lokonga will become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer transfer window following last week’s capture of Nuno Tavares from Benfica.

And supporters on social media are happy that Lokonga has taken an unusual number with Arsenal that has never been seen before at the club.
Fans are also big supporters of Lokonga taking a number that is personal to him.
Here’s what some Arsenal fans had to say about Lokonga taking the number 48 shirt on Twitter…

Following the signing of Lokonga, Arsenal still have multiple holes to fill out in their squad.
The Gunners are keen to sell plenty of players this window, with Mikel Arteta so far struggling to find any suits for the likes of Hector Bellerin, Willian and Sead Kolasinac.
