Some Arsenal supporters have been reacting on social media to reports by The Guardian, which claimed the Emirates Stadium outfit have begun searching for scouts in a number of key positions.

The Gunners are understood to have appointed headhunting company Nolan Partners to help with their search, with the specialists in filling senior positions within the sports and entertainments industries tasked with filling roles that have been light since last August.

Nolan Partners have been brought in to provide an objective view on Arsenal’s new scouting set-up, by putting forward potential candidates to fill boots-on-the-ground roles in an industry where in-person relationships are still key to the discovery of emerging talents.

The German market is one considered to be a high priority with two talent spotters being eyed, one of which will be tasked with focusing on youth recruitment, plus new personnel to scour the United Kingdom, French and Spanish markets.

Arsenal’s search for scouts comes as the latest instalment in the north Londoners’ overhaul of their network that begun last year with several made redundant – including their former Head of Recruitment, Francis Cagigao, plus Pete Clark and Brian McDermott.

Ty Gooden formerly oversaw the French and Belgian footballing scenes before his services were no longer deemed required, while Leonardo Scirpoli served as Arsenal’s scout in Germany, Alex Stafford in Scotland, Julio de Marco in Spain, and Alessandro Sbrizzo in Italy.

Discussions with a handful of potential replacements are already thought to be underway, as Arsenal place a greater emphasis on an analytics-led process of talent discovery under new Player Recruitment Coordinator Jason Ayto.
