A number of Arsenal fans have given their thoughts on the report in The Telegraph claiming Gunners talisman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is set for a bumper new deal.
The 31-year-old is an essential player for Arsenal, with 25 goals this season so far and 66 in all competitions since joining the Gunners from Borussia Dortmund in January 2018 on Arsene Wenger’s watch.
Aubameyang’s future at the Emirates Stadium has been in doubt for a number of months, given his contract expires next summer and no breakthrough has yet been made on a new deal.

However, The Telegraph claims that Arsenal – acting on Mikel Arteta’s advice – are finalising their first formal offer of a new contract, set to be presented to the striker in the coming days.
The report also claims that Aubameyang is set for a £250,000-a-week basic salary plus bonuses, an increase on his current £198,000-a-week basic salary plus bonuses.
In addition, Arsenal must also convince the Gabon international that they are ready to back Arteta and give him a real chance to turn the club back into top-four contenders.
The report has split opinion amongst the Gunners fanbase, with some pleased to see this saga seemingly close to an end, and others thinking it’s not worth the expense.
