Some Arsenal fans impressed after statistic emerges over penalties conceded this season

Some Arsenal fans were feeling impressed after a statistic emerged about the number of penalties the Gunners have conceded this season.

Mikel Arteta’s side gave away just three spot-kicks this season, tied least with Sean Dyche’s Burnley side.

One of those penalties was at home to Chelsea during the Boxing Day victory over the Blues. It was saved by Bernd Leno from midfielder Jorginho, who did his trademark hop, skip and jump technique.

Meanwhile, the other two proved to be incredibly controversial. Another penalty was the contentious foul and subsequent red card for David Luiz during the 2-1 loss to Wolves. It was a hotly contested decision with some labelled it ‘insanely harsh’.

The final one was the spot-kick given away at home to Fulham which again was a controversial decision.

If the system wasn’t in use, the Gunners would’ve finished in fourth place in the division and inside the Champions League places, a bitter blow for Arteta’s side.
