Some Arsenal fans are calling on Mikel Arteta to give loanee Konstantinos Mavropanos a chance at the club next season after comments on the defender’s future by Sven Mislintat.

Speaking to Sport Bild, the former Gunners scout claimed that the player has committed to moving to Stuttgart should he not receive opportunities at the Emirates Stadium next season.

The Greek center-half has enjoyed a standout season with the Bundesliga side and won the rookie player of the month award back in March.

His performances has drawn interest from Die Roten, who are keen on extending the ace’s loan spell at the club with the option of purchasing him on a permanent deal.

However, it’s thought the north London outfit still rates the defender fairly highly and the star himself would like to return to the team.

When talking about Mavropanos, Mislintat said: “He says very clearly: If he doesn’t play a role in Arsenal’s planning, he wants to stay with us. That’s an awesome statement and it helps us. A lot has been set up for an extension to work.”
