Some Arsenal fans fuming after Schlupp escapes sending off for ‘absolute horror’ tackle

Some Arsenal fans have been left fuming after Crystal Palace’s Jeffery Schlupp avoided a red card for his tackle on Calum Chambers.

With the game just five minutes old, the midfielder went in on the Gunners right-back studs up, on his ankle, in a situation which proved similar to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s sending off last season.

However, after a lengthy VAR check, the African was given a reprieve as the man in charge of the video technology, Stuart Atwell, decided not to take action.

It wasn’t the only questionable decision of the night with Christian Benteke and Joel Ward lucky to escape reds after an elbow into Mohamed Elneny’s throat and a kick out at Kieran Tierney respectively.

I’d love to sit here and say I’m shocked by the shocking level of officiating from the referees in the Premier League, but, the fact of the matter is this has been a prominent issue this season.

The north London giants themselves have been on the end of numerous shocking decisions from the officials in what has been a head-scratching campaign for the referees.

Here are how fans reacted to the lack of a red card for Schlupp…
