Arsenal were beaten once again in the Premier League, this time by Burnley at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners’ dismal run continued, with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring an own goal for the hosts, and Granit Xhaka getting sent off for violent conduct.
The result leaves Arsenal just five points above the relegation zone, and the pressure is cranking up on Mikel Arteta.

There were plenty of efforts on goal for the hosts, but a combination of Nick Pope and some poor finishing meant it was yet another game in the Premier League without scoring.
They’ve now gone 12 hours and 32 minutes without finding the net from open play in the league, which is unheard of for Arsenal, who have always prided themselves on playing free-flowing football that results in goals.
Xhaka’s straight red card means he’ll now miss the next three games, and with Thomas Partey injured, Arteta is for a new-look midfield pairing against Southampton.
After the defeat to Burnley, there were some fans clamouring for Ainsley Maitland-Niles, who has been reduced to a bit-part role in recent weeks.

The England international is behind Hector Bellerin in the right-back pecking order, and has struggled for chances in the league ahead of Xhaka, Partey, Mohamed Elneny and Dani Ceballos in midfield.
He got on for the closing stages against Burnley last night, but the 23-year-old hasn’t started since the 3-1 defeat to Liverpool back in September.
On social media, fans made the case for Maitland-Niles to start starting again:
