Some Arsenal fans believe Rob Holding should have had England call-up

The 28-man England squad for November games against the USA and Croatia was officially announced on Thursday.

Wayne Rooney has been included but will only feature in the friendly match against the US as part of a charity arrangement. The match will also serve as an honouring of the ex-Manchester United and Everton striker’s international career.

There was a first-time call-up for in-form Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson, with Everton defender Michael Keane being recalled after some good early form for the Toffees.

There were also spots for Marcus Bettinelli, Jadon Sancho, Lewis Dunk and Ben Chilwell.

One man who was snubbed this time around though was Arsenal defender Rob Holding, with a number of Arsenal fans believing he deserved a chance off Gareth Southgate.

Holding has undoubtedly improved

Perhaps they have a point.

Holding has really improved this season under the guidance of Unai Emery, and his partnership with Shkodran Mustafi is looking more assured with each passing week.

He has filled in for the injured Sokratis and Laurent Koscielny really well, and looks as though he might take some shifting from the Gunners’ backline now.

He was man of the match against Watford in September, and has averaged 4.7 clearances per game, with just 0.5 fouls (via WhoScored).

Arsenal fans react

Gunners supporters were a little disappointed to say the least with the snub for their man given his recent upturn in form:
