Some Arsenal fans believe Mikel Arteta will allow Joe Willock to leave the club this summer despite comments this week suggesting otherwise.

Speaking to Football London following the Gunners 2-1 loss pre-season to Hibernian, the Basque manager confirmed that Willock will be a part of the club’s long-term plans.

Arteta said: “Joe is part of our plans. He’s our player and in the time that he is here we will try to make the most out of him.

“He had a great experience on loan. He was I think he was one of the most important players for their survival.”

Willock missed out on yesterday’s game due to injury. However, speculation continues to be rife surrounding the midfielder’s future.

Newcastle United are still keen on the 21-year-old midfielder following his successful loan spell with the club last season.

However, Arsenal seem keen on keeping the England youth international at the club this summer. The Gunners are lacking in the attacking midfield department of the squad.

Indeed, some Arsenal fans on social media were not convinced by Arteta’s comments on Willock. With a few supporters believing that the Gunners manager will allow the midfielder to leave this summer.
