Some Arsenal supporters are keen on the signing of Andre Onana following a report that connected the Ajax keeper with coach Inaki Cana.

According to Football London, the Arsenal goalkeeper coach recommended Onana to the club. The two worked together during their years at FC Barcelona’s famed La Masia academy.

The Cameroonian international is reportedly a target for Arsenal this transfer window. Dutch media outlet NOS report that the 25-year-old keeper could join the north London side soon.

Onana is currently banned from all footballing activity until February 2022. The goalkeeper is serving a 12-month ban from UEFA for doping.

The Ajax star is a quality shot-stopper. However, this report linking Cana to Onana has some Arsenal fans on social media worried.

The coach was key behind Arsenal signing Icelandic goalkeeper Alex Runarsson last summer. The 26-year-old keeper featured a handful of times for the Gunners last season, but failed to impress supporters.

Onana will find out today if his ban from UEFA will remain at 12 months. There is a chance, though, the suspension will be shortened to eight months as per the NOS report.
