Andy Hinchcliffe teared into Richarlison during Tottenham Hotspur’s win on Saturday, telling Sky Sports (broadcast on 8/10; 19:05) that his misplaced pass which led to a Brighton shot was so poor.
Spurs picked up a hugely impressive win on an emotional day for Antonio Conte’s side. Harry Kane scored the only goal as the Seagulls suffered their first home defeat of the season.

Tottenham had a point to prove after failing to win their previous two games. Doubts may remain about the style of play. But they ultimately found a way to pick up a hugely valuable three points on the south coast.
That is not to say that they were flawless. In fact, there were times when Spurs caused their own issues. And Richarlison was to blame for one opportunity during the second-half.

The Brazilian received the ball 30 yards from his own goal. He tried to play the ball back to Ryan Sessegnon. However, the pass was poor and led to Danny Welbeck being able to get a shot away.
‘So poor’: Richarlison criticised in Tottenham win
Fortunately for Tottenham, Welbeck dragged the attempt wide. But Richarlison still came in for a lot of criticism.
“Richarlison is a lucky boy because he plays this pass blind. He lays the ball back onto the edge of his box, gifts the ball back to Brighton,” Hinchcliffe told Sky Sports.
“Should be dealing with this comfortably. But this is so poor from Richarlison. Sessegnon’s caught on his heels as well. Bit of complacency from Tottenham.”
Richarlison will need no reminding that he made a mistake. Unfortunately, it came at a time when he really needed to make an impact.
It was the 25-year-old who lost his place as Conte opted for three in the middle of the park. And of course, moving ahead of Harry Kane or Son Heung-min in the pecking order is likely to be near-on impossible.
In fairness, Conte will rotate. Kane came off with a knock late on. And Tottenham have a packed fixture schedule leading up to the World Cup.
But Richarlison arguably needs to produce a colossal effort in the weeks ahead to boost his place in the pecking order. So needless mistakes will not help his cause.
