‘So poor’… Ian Wright says £15m Tottenham player did something ‘terrible’ last night

Tottenham lost 2-1 to West Ham on Thursday in what was a disappointing showing from Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Spurs have now gone five games without a win in the Premier League, and the wheels are very quickly coming off in north London.

Spurs had so many praiseworthy players during the early part of the season, but now, these players are struggling.

One such player is Destiny Udogie. The Italian started the season brilliantly, but he hasn’t looked the same after his red card against Chelsea, and he made a big mistake against the Hammers.

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Ian Wright has been very critical of Udogie’s showing against West Ham, claiming that his backpass that led to the winning goal was truly terrible.

Udogie had a shocker

Wright shared his verdict on that second West Ham goal and the £15m man.

“The thing with that one. Vicario is not expecting that, he’s lunging with his hands. It’s a terrible backpass from Udogie,” Wright said.

“The thing is, it’s not that he’s unsighted or anything the pass back is just so poor that he’s not favourite, he needs to pass it back to the left so the goalie can go over to it, it’s a bad back pass.”

Inexperience starting to show

Udogie received so much praise and looked like such a natural at the start of the season that it was easy to forget he’s just 21 years old.

The Italian is still a baby in footballing terms, and his inexperience at this level is now starting to show a bit.

That backpass was born of panic, and, to be fair, we can’t blame him for being overawed by a big derby game under the lights.

Udogie needs to calm down a bit and go back to basics, because he seems to be a bit all over the place at this moment in time.
