‘So happy’, ‘PL ain’t ready’: Some Arsenal fans react after seeing who’s finally back in training

A number of Arsenal fans have rejoiced in Gabriel Martinelli’s long-awaited return to training, as confirmed by the Gunners social media team.

The 19-year-old, who joined Arsenal from Brazilian side Ituano FC last summer for £6million, has been a sensation in North London since his arrival.

With 10 goals and four assists from 26 Gunners appearances last term, Martinelli became the first teenage goalscorer to reach double figures for Arsenal since Nicolas Anelka in 1998-99.

It didn’t take long for transfer links to appear, with the Daily Mail claiming back in March that Real Madrid were interested in him during the January transfer window.

However, Martinelli put pen to paper on a new long-term deal in the summer – the Evening Standard claims the Brazilian signed a four-year deal with the option of a fifth, also getting a pay rise.

Martinelli has been recovering from a long-term knee injury but provided a positive update earlier this week, telling the Arsenal website he’s been feeling better and he’d soon start training with the ball.

How soon would that be? Very soon – on Friday, Arsenal shared photos of the teenage prodigy in training with the ball.

Cue plenty of delighted Arsenal fans in the comments:
