‘So class’, ‘going to be an important player’: Some Spurs fans in awe of 24-year-old’s EL display

A number of Tottenham Hotspur fans have taken to Twitter to praise Giovani Lo Celso for his display in Thursday night’s Europa League victory.

Jose Mourinho’s Spurs played Lokomotiv Plovdiv away but were given a huge scare as the Bulgarians took the lead in the second half through a Georgi Minchev header.

Tottenham were then handed a reprieve when Dinis Almeida’s handball on the line – a straight red card – earned the visitors a penalty, which Harry Kane converted.

Birsent Karagaren was also dismissed in the aftermath for dissent, and with 11 men against nine, Spurs went on to grab an 85th-minute winner through Tanguy Ndombele.

Lo Celso made his first appearance of the season, having missed Spurs’ pre-season programme and the Everton loss through injury.

Far from being rusty, the 24-year-old showed forward thinking, urgency and desire for much of the game.

Despite fading towards the end, he definitely brought something to the table that Spurs missed at the weekend.
