Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has described playmaker Jack Grealish as the best player he has worked with during his managerial career, as per the Express and Star.
Grealish has been the catalyst for Villa’s surge up the Championship table, during which ten straight wins since his return from injury have booked the Midlands club’s place in the top six already.
On Grealish, Smith said: “He is the best player I have worked with. Natural ability but a strong work ethic and mindset that people don’t see. Very well respected in the dressing room.
“I said when I first came in what a talented player Jack was, what he’s started bringing to his game now is goals and assists. It would be crazy if we didn’t get bids for him. But he has committed his future to the club.
“He has a long-term contract and he’s a Villa fan. He is captain of the club now as well. There are an awful lot of things to keep him at this club.”

Grealish has hauled Villa into the play-off spots and is thriving with Smith’s more attractive style of play, as opposed to being the only real creative force like he was when Steve Bruce was in charge.
He now looks far too good for the Championship, and will likely be playing his football in the top flight next season – with or without Villa – regardless of what Smith says optimistically.
