'Slight confusion': Tottenham player is actually back from the World Cup and in training today - journalist

Tottenham talisman Harry Kane is set to be back in training today after his World Cup heartbreak with England.

Kane missed his second penalty of the World Cup quarter-final against France as the Three Lions were eliminated by a 2-1 loss.

He has not played any part in the friendlies Spurs have had to tune up before their return to Premier League action on Monday.

They resume the season with a London derby against Brentford and Kane is expected to play in that game.

Kane back in training today

That is not least because Spurs have injuries in attacking areas, with Richarlison coming back from the World Cup injured.

Journalist Tom Barclay tweeted that he has heard conflicting information on when Kane would actually be back in training.

He said that he some had claimed it was yesterday, before Spurs drew 1-1 with Nice in their final friendly but it is actually today.

Kane’s England teammate Luke Shaw came off the bench for Manchester United last night in their 2-0 win over Burnley in the EFL Cup.

Other losing World Cup quarter-finalists have played for their club in midweek but Kane was given slightly longer off than that.

But there is no reason to think he will not play against the Bees on Monday when the Premier League resumes after an unprecedented mid-season break.
