Former Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic gave Ryan Sessegnon his debut and has given his thoughts on what Tottenham fans can expect from their new signing.
Speaking to the Daily Mirror, Jokanovic has said the starlet can continue to improve and can be perfect for Tottenham.
He said: “I believe he can perfectly play for Spurs and has still got a huge career ahead. Now he is joining a team where Pochettino knows how to manage the progress of young players as well.
“Spurs is a good choice and I expect big things from him because I know he will keep his will to improve and great attitude.”
TBR’s View – Sessegnon’s progress depends on whether he’s played in defence or midfield
It seems as if Sessegnon was penciled in as Tottenham’s replacement for Danny Rose at left back, who of course has not ended up leaving the club – yet.
But he made waves at Fulham as a dynamic winger with an eye for goal, and that is where his future should lie long term.
It’s just whether he can force a way in ahead of Tottenham’s array of attacking options, but he offers a directness that none of the club’s other wide options can match.
Sessegnon, like Gareth Bale when he was a young player at Spurs, can play both roles but he should end up as a winger. It remains to be seen if Mauricio Pochettino sees it the same way.
