Liverpool’s transfer stance regarding German talent Kai Havertz has been cleared up by Sky Sports.
The Bayer Leverkusen creator is one of Europe’s most-wanted young players and the Reds have been credited with an interest.
As reported by The Express, Jurgen Klopp is a big fan of the player, and Liverpool are ‘desperate’ to sign him. According to The Independent, the seven-cap German international is valued at around £80 million.

However, Sky Sports’ Liverpool correspondent Vinny O’Connor has suggested differently. Speaking on the Sky Sports News Transfer Centre (24/04/2020; 18:13), he made it clear that Liverpool were not interested in Havertz in January and feels that stance has not changed. In fact, he suggests Liverpool are of the belief that Leverkusen are using the Premier League leaders to lure in potential buyers and bump up the price of the German talent.
Havertz is wanted by a number of clubs, including Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. As recently reported by Bleacher Report, it is a domestic move that appears the most likely next step for Leverkusen’s 20-year-old sensation.
Liverpool, it seems, are simply a tool to ensure the German side receive the best price possible for their biggest commodity.
