Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s return to Premier League action tonight, Sky Sports pundit Charlie Nicholas spoke of the “huge boost” Spurs have in Harry Kane being back.
The Tottenham talisman suffered a long-term hamstring injury on New Year’s Day and he was only expected to play the final few games of the season at most.
Kane’s absence, combined with Son Heung-min also ending up on the sidelines some weeks later, threatened to derail Tottenham’s campaign entirely.

Indeed, Spurs had gone six games without a win, out of the FA Cup and Champions League, and slipped to eighth in the Premier League by the time English football was suspended.
Three months down the line and Kane, along with Son, Moussa Sissoko and Steven Bergwijn, are fit again as Manchester United come to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this evening.
“Tottenham needed a rest as they were in meltdown,” Nicholas told Sky Sports. “I look at Harry Kane who will be back for them, and that is a huge boost.
“That being said, Jose will not know what his best defence is but I imagine he will have been working hard on it – there is no Dele Alli for Tottenham too.
“A lack of fans will take an edge off it for the players. It will be 30 minutes or so that is needed to get going for these two, but I cannot separate them.”
TBR View:
Prior to the suspension of English football, Tottenham were in dire straits as injuries to key players threatened to derail their entire season.
Kane, Son, Sissoko and Bergwijn were all on the sidelines, Mourinho was without a senior striker, and the whole team looked tired and unbalanced.
However, Tottenham’s personnel situation is now much improved and the North Londoners will be hoping to show what they’re capable of against Mourinho’s old club tonight.
