Sky Sports pundit Keith Andrews has praised the “masterstroke” in Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa bringing Ben White to Elland Road.
The 22-year-old joined the Whites on loan from Brighton in the summer, and at the time it appeared somewhat of a gamble as he hadn’t made a single appearance in English football’s top two divisions.
However, White has taken to life in the Championship flawlessly, playing every minute of every league game for Leeds this term, as well as featuring in the FA Cup against Arsenal and in the Whites’ two League Cup clashes.

The young centre-back’s contributions have been essential in helping the Elland Road side go top of the table priot to the football suspension, edging them to the brink of promotion to the Premier League.
“He did very little in the transfer market but it has been extremely effective,” Andrews wrote on Sky Sports about Bielsa, his Championship Manager of the Season.
“Ben White to replace Pontus Jansson was a big move, but it has turned out to be an absolute masterstroke. Helder Costa took a while to get going but he has been good, too.”
TBR View:
White has been so impressive for Leeds this term that every Sky Sports pundit has named him in their best Championship XIs of the season so far, and should the 2019-20 campaign be seen out, he will surely help the Whites over the line and into the Premier League.
On the flip side, the 6ft ace has been doing so well that the Whites will face some incredibly tough competition should they wish to buy him, with Liverpool reportedly scouting him at “almost every single game” and being wanted by “the big teams” (Sky Sports EFL podcast).
Nonetheless, whether he stays beyond the end of the season or goes, back to Brighton or to another club, if he helps Leeds back into the Premier League, he will always be assured of a place in the club’s hall of fame and in the fans’ hearts.
