Andy Townsend has named Bukayo Saka as the player who will take Arsenal to the next level after the winger’s performance against Newcastle United.
The 22-year-old scored his seventh goal in his last five Premier League games, becoming the first English player to achieve such a feat for Arsenal since club legend Ian Wright.
With the attacker reaching new heights this season, a lot has been made in recent weeks over whether Saka can be considered a world-class forward, something Rio Ferdinand has challenged.

Yet speaking on Sky Sports Germany’s English coverage of Arsenal’s 4-0 win against Newcastle last night, pundit Townsend was full of praise for Saka, with the youngster tipped for greatness with the Gunners.
With Arsenal a squad full of young superstars, Saka is starting to emerge as one arguably the franchise player for the north London side, with the 22-year-old again simply unplayable last night against Newcastle.
Townsend said about Saka’s potential: “He’s the main man for Arsenal. Martinelli is there, Odegaard does his bit as well, but Saka is the one. He’s the one who will take this Arsenal side to the next level.”
Bukayo Saka is Arsenal’s poster boy after Newcastle display

Arsenal’s Premier League form since their mid-season break has been nothing short of remarkable, with the Gunners scoring 25 goals in six games and conceding just three during this six-game winning run.
And Saka has been influential to this sensational form, with the attacker playing some of his best football ever in an Arsenal shirt and hitting new heights that have transformed the winger into a world-class forward.
Goals, assists and overall attacking play have been raised another level by Saka in the last few weeks, with the Arsenal star showing no sign of slowing down in the slightest.
And the winger should now be considered Arsenal’s poster boy, with Townsend right that Saka is the player who can take the north London side to new heights if he can keep this form up.
