Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie has told the programme (broadcast on 7/10; 11:07) that he would deem it very unlikely that Steve Bruce will take charge of Newcastle United when they face Tottenham Hotspur after the international break.
Newcastle fans, of course, are waiting for the takeover of the club to go through. Downie suggested earlier in the day that it could be announced today.

Obviously, supporters will likely have big dreams for what it mean for the club moving forward. And one of the short-term hopes many may have involves a new manager coming in.
Unfortunately, Bruce has not managed to win over supporters during his time on Tyneside. So some will certainly welcome a change in the dug-out should everything go to plan with the takeover.

Interestingly, Downie suggested he does not see Bruce still being in charge when Newcastle host Spurs later this month.
“He will expect to be moved on,” he told Sky Sports. “And the supporters have made it clear that they want a change regarding the manager. I think they will get that.
“If you’re asking me the question now, do I expect him to be in charge against Tottenham Hotspur in the first game back after the international break, I would think very unlikely.”
Newcastle fans will hope first statement of intent comes when successor to Steve Bruce is announced
It will be fascinating to see who comes in should Bruce leave. With the transfer window closed, it is perhaps the prospective owners’ first chance to set out what sort of vision they have for the Magpies.
If they go for a big name, it will be clear that they would like some sort of immediate success.
But if they go down a different path, perhaps it will be a sign that they are looking at the longer-term project.
It seems that supporters may not have to wait too long to find out what direction they pursue.
