Sky reporter shares update live on air after Liverpool make Carvalho bid
Dharmesh Sheth has told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports (broadcast on 30/1; 18:11) that Fulham expect to still have Fabio Carvalho in their ranks for the rest of the season – though he could still complete a deadline day move to Liverpool.
Carvalho could be one player who moves on the final day of the January transfer window. He has been electric for the Cottagers so far this season.
His form has caught the eye of the Reds. And with his contract at Craven Cottage up at the end of the season, Marco Silva’s men do not appear to be in the strongest position.
‘One to keep an eye on’
Of course, Fulham’s short-term goal is to ensure that they get across the line in the promotion race. So having Carvalho in their side over the coming months would be a big boost.
And it would appear that the door could be open for both sides to benefit from a potential deadline day agreement.
Sheth has suggested that Fulham believe that Carvalho will see out the season with them amid interest from Liverpool. Intriguingly however, the Sky reporter hinted that the 19-year-old may end up spending his final months at Fulham as a loanee.
“One source has told us that Liverpool have actually submitted a bid of around £5 million. But we’ve also been told that Fulham are confident that Fabio Carvalho will be at the club for the remainder of the season,” Sheth told The Transfer Show.
“Now that doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be a deal on deadline day, simply because they could do a deal still where they could get money and then he could be loaned back to Fulham for the remainder of the season.
“I think this could be one to keep an eye on tomorrow actually.”
Liverpool loaning Carvalho back to Fulham could be perfect move
Carvalho looks to be an incredibly special talent. He has seven goals and four assists in the Championship this term. He has also previously opened his account in the Premier League.
If Fulham are resigned to losing him, a deal this month could be incredibly smart. A loan move would allow the teenager to continue to play a prominent role in their promotion push.
For Liverpool meanwhile, loaning him back to the Cottagers makes a lot of sense. He would initially struggle for minutes if he moved to Anfield immediately.
It is surely a worthwhile decision should it ensure that Carvalho makes the move to Liverpool on the final day of the window.
