Arsenal are looking for a new winger on transfer deadline day.

The Gunners need attacking reinforcements, Arsenal are now being linked with a move for Raheem Sterling.

The Chelsea winger is a target for Arsenal, and this could be a great piece of business.

Sterling, of course, knows Mikel Arteta well from his time at Manchester City, and according to Jay Bothroyd, speaking on Sky Sports News (30/8/24 10:45AM), this could be an excellent signing.

In fact, Bothroyd claimed that Sterling would be an upgrade on both Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Martinelli.

Raheem Sterling would be excellent for Arsenal

Bothroyd shared his verdict on this potential signing.

“I love that, I love that move, Sterling is a top player still. He went to Chelsea, started pretty well, but it tapered off,” Bothroyd said.

“Again, I look at that and I think it could be a loan move that would be great for both parties. I think he’s an upgrade on Martinelli, an upgrade on Trossard. He’s worked with Arteta before, he’s a threat, he scores goals. Whether you like it or not, Arsenal are just a better team than Chelsea, so it’s a great move for Sterling. I’d love to have him there.”

Peak Raheem Sterling would be Arsenal’s best winger

It’s been a long time since we’ve seen it, but if Raheem Sterling can rediscover his best form, there’s an argument to make that he’d be Arsenal’s best winger.

Let’s not forget, during his best season at Manchester City, Sterling bagged more than 30 goals, even Bukayo Saka has never come close to that tally.

Arteta was key to getting the best out of Sterling at City, and if he can help the England international return to those levels at Arsenal, the Gunners will have a real star on their hands.

This could be the signing of the summer if Arsenal are able to get Sterling over the line and help him return to his best form.
