Sky Sports pundit and Celtic icon Alan Thompson believes Eddie Howe would be a “perfect” fit for the Parkhead side.
According to numerous reports, the Hoops are close to landing the former Bournemouth boss.
The Scottish Daily Mail [print edition, 28/04, page 83] claims Howe is currently putting together his backroom team.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Sun claims Celtic want John Kennedy to work closely with Howe, who “remains on course” to become Neil Lennon’s permanent successor this summer.
Thompson, who made upwards of 150 appearances for the Bhoys in the 2000s, believes the 43-year-old has a “great philosophy” which would make for exciting football at Parkhead.
“I know Eddie well, I did my UEFA Pro Licence with him. I think he’d be a perfect fit for the job,” Thompson told Sky Sports.
“He’s young, enthusiastic and cut from the same cloth as Brendan Rodgers.
“He has a great philosophy on the game and I think if Eddie was to get the job, he plays the style of football and recruits the type of player Celtic fans would really enjoy watching.”
TBR View:
This has been a season that Celtic fans will want to forget, but if Howe is appointed, then it’d go a long way towards putting things right.
Howe is a great manager who did well at Bournemouth and it’s great to hear Thompson endorse him so highly – let’s hope it does go through.
