Andy Walker has blasted Giorgos Giakoumakis after the Celtic forward made a nasty challenge on Ryan Jack during the second-half of the Hoops’ Old Firm win on Sunday – in comments to Sky Sports (3/4; 13:25).

Ange Postecoglou’s side have now got one hand on the Scottish Premiership trophy after a dramatic win over Rangers at Ibrox. It started poorly for the league leaders however, with Aaron Ramsey putting the home side in front.

However, Celtic turned the game around by half-time. Tom Rogic was unbelievably good in yet another Old Firm game. And the Australian equalised.

The winner came from an unlikely source, with Cameron Carter-Vickers finding the bottom corner before the break.

It proved to a beautifully feisty affair between the two title contenders. And there were moments when tempers boiled over.

One such incident involved Giakoumakis after he made a nasty looking challenge on Jack. It was late and the forward could have few complaints when Collum produced a yellow card. Jack also made his anger evident, holding Giakoumakis’ face into the turf.

Walker certainly felt that it was extremely poor from Giakoumakis to make such a tackle.

“Ryan Jack has put his body in the way there. It’s a late challenge, it’s a stupid challenge. It’s a clear yellow. And I think Willie Collum wanted to play advantage,” he told Sky Sports.

No surprise Giakoumakis clashed with Jack in Celtic win

It is probably no surprise that Giakoumakis and Jack clashed at Ibrox. The Rangers midfielder labelled the Greece international disrespectful before the game for claiming that the Celtic squad was better in every department.

It was not a game in which the Hoops really proved that they were definitely better in every department. But they will not care one bit whether they lived up to expectations. They picked up an absolutely massive three points in the title race.
