Reported Liverpool target Timo Werner would be a great signing for the Reds and would enjoy working with Jurgen Klopp, Sky Sports pundit Stephen Warnock is quoted by the Daily Star as saying.
The Anfield club has been heavily linked with the RB Leipzig striker, who has been in superb form this season, netting 27 goals and registering 12 assists in just 36 appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt).
Since joining Leipzig from Stuttgart in the summer of 2016, Werner has claimed an impressive 88 goals and 39 assists in 150 competitive appearances, as well as winning 29 Germany caps with 11 goals scored in the process (Transfermarkt).
The 24-year-old has previously described Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp as “the best coach in the world”, was flattered by reported interest in him from the Premier League leaders, and believes the Reds’ style of play would suit him (Viasport).
Sky Sports, meanwhile, previously reported that Werner is very much willing to join Liverpool if they pay his £52million release clause before it expires on 15 June.
“Away from home I think Werner would be really dangerous because of his pace and Liverpool’s counter-attacking football,” Warnock is quoted by the Daily Star as saying.
“He would enjoy the prospect of working with Klopp, although what you’d ideally want is for him to have a full pre-season to understand what the manager wants.”
Werner has made no secret of his admiration for Liverpool and Klopp, so it’s little surprise that he remains heavily linked with a move to Anfield.
The £53,000-a-week ace‘s track record speaks for itself, and he would certainly be an asset for the Reds, making their world-class attacking ranks even more fearsome.
The plaudits keep coming Werner’s way, and with the Bundesliga set for a return, Liverpool fans will be watching proceedings closely given Leipzig being just five points off top spot.
