Gary Neville has urged Tottenham’s Dele Alli to improve by doing more to get the best out of his talent.
Alli, who earns £100,000-a-week (Spotrac), is an attacking midfielder that was so integral to the team of former Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino.
But the 24-year-old has fallen down the pecking order under current manager Jose Mourinho.
The playmaker has scored just two goals and set up two assists in 14 appearances this campaign, plus he’s lost his regular spot in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.
If he can get back to anywhere near his best, Spurs have someone who’s shown he can make a difference on the biggest stage and be a real goal threat in the Premier League.
Sky Sports pundit Neville has put some blame at the feet of Alli though for his slump, insisting Mourinho is not the sole reason for his decline.
“Dele Alli, to be fair, I’ve worked with him at England. He’s a brilliant talent but he should be doing a lot more, I want a lot more from him, he’s an outstanding player,” Neville told Sky Sports’ Main Event channel (7:40pm, 15 February).
“Deliver on a great career. There’s a reason why his career’s doing what it’s doing, it’s not just Jose Mourinho, Dele’s got to get hold of it himself.”

TBR’s View:
Mourinho has recently detailed clear-the-air talks that took place between him and Alli, which is now why he’ll be hoping for minutes following his return from a minor injury setback.
The North London club are desperate for someone to ignite a spark in their season.
They have lost four of their last five Premier League games to slip down to ninth in the table and they need someone to help ease the pressure off Heung-Min Son and Harry Kane to score all the goals.
