Sky Sports pundit Danny Higginbotham believes that Tottenham’s approach to matches against their top six rivals may change now that they are back out of the title race, according to Sky Sports.
Two straight defeats has seen Spurs slip from the coat-tails of Liverpool and Manchester City into a battle for the top four within a matter of days.
And things don’t get any easier with bitter rivals Arsenal the next team to visit Wembley tomorrow, looking for a win that would take them to within just one point of Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Higginbotham said: “Until [Wednesday], Tottenham probably thought they were there for the Premier League title. Now it is a case of the emphasis changing, they have to be careful of the teams that are below.”

“The top teams, they go in to win the game but in this instance, it wouldn’t necessarily be the end of the world to draw. The mindset can change and I think that could actually benefit Tottenham.”
This is a strange line of argument from Higginbotham; the idea that slipping out of the title race means that Spurs can afford to drop more points is not necessarily one Pochettino will want to subscribe to.
That said, a draw wouldn’t be that bad a result – but Spurs shouldn’t be playing for one at home to their biggest rivals.
