Paul Merson has claimed that Leeds United’s Raphinha has been “outstanding” this season during his first year in English football.
Raphinha, 24, only moved to Elland Road back in October from Rennes, but in such a short space of time he has become a key figure in Yorkshire.
The left-footed winger has every trick in the book to make him one of the most exciting to watch in the Premier League, and he’s a fan favourite already with Leeds supporters.
Sky Sports pundit Merson has been that impressed by the South American attacker that he’s included him in his Premier League Team of the Season for the 2020/21 campaign.
“Raphinha has been an absolute sensation for Leeds this season. To go into Leeds as a Brazilian player, and you have to be a certain type of player to play the Leeds way, and he has taken to it like a duck to water and has been absolutely outstanding,” he told Sky Sports.

TBR’s View:
Raphinha has that X-factor that brings just an extra bit of class to the Leeds group.
Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa masterminded a ninth-placed league finish this season using a core group of players that got out of the Championship.
However, a couple of additions have really complimented the squad well.
Raphinha’s impact has been colossal. He scored six goals and provided nine assists in just 30 league appearances.
If you consider his age, as well as the fact it’s his first season in a new country, the possibility of how good he could become in the next few years is absolutely frightening.
The fleet-footed winger ghosts past defenders like they’re not there and is so difficult to stop when he’s in full flow.
