Martin Zubimendi to Liverpool is the transfer story that is making most of the headlines at the moment.

The Spanish midfielder is said to be the Reds’ top transfer target at the moment, and Liverpool fans are anxiously awaiting an update on the midfielder and his potential move to Merseyside.

Speaking on Sky Sports News, Vinny O’Connor has provided an update on Zubimendi live from outside of Anfield.

According to the journalist, this deal isn’t advancing all that quickly.

Indeed, O’Connor says that while Liverpool do really want to sign Zubimendi, he gets the impression that this deal isn’t imminent.

Martin Zubimendi deal isn’t imminent

O’Connor shared what he knows about the midfielder.

“Is it about to happen now with Martin Zubimendi? To a certain extent you can say yes, because we know Liverpool are interested and want to bring him to the football club, but in terms of a deal being imminent, you get the impression that is not the case at the moment,” O’Connor said.

“The impression we’re getting from within Liverpool at the moment is that any chance of a deal hasn’t moved on from what we brought you yesterday.”

Zubimendi move may still be difficult

Zubimendi to Liverpool may not be as simple as many would hope.

The midfielder has been fiercely loyal to Real Sociedad for a long time now, and the Spanish club are said to be trying all they can to keep Zubimendi.

Of course, a move to Anfield would appeal to any player, and, let’s face it, Liverpool are a much more prestigious club than Real Sociedad.

However, as a local lad from an area as proud as Spain’s Basque country, Zubimendi may want to stay loyal and remain in San Sebastian for another season.

This remains perhaps the most interesting transfer story in the Premier League at the moment.
