Arsenal and January seem to go hand in hand with transfer link after transfer link, but according to Sky Sports, one player who they could finally sign is Juventus midfielder, Arthur Melo.
The Gunners want to sign Arthur and have been following his progress all month. Indeed, it is believed the player himself is open to coming to England as well. Reports this week have even suggested his agents have travelled to London to meet with Edu and Arsenal.

But as yet, no deal has been agreed or announced. And according to Sky Sports’ Kaveh Solhekol, a number of complications are holding the deal up, despite Melo wanting to move to Arsenal.
“The situation with Arthur is simple. Arsenal want to sign him, he wants to sign, Juventus are prepared to let him go,” Solhekol said this evening.
“But it’s complicated too – the discussions are centred around how long any loan would be, whether there would be an option or obligation for Arsenal to buy. Arsenal also have some other targets, but the player’s agent has been in London this week for talks with them. So it is one which could happen, but nothing is imminent at the moment.”
Juventus are said to be open to accepting around £29m for Arthur. That would be a huge loss on a player they forked out more than £60m on.
TBR’s View: Arsenal Playing Risky Games This Winter
We do see this a lot, but as each day ticks by, it’s another period of time when Arsenal haven’t brought anyone in. And Arsenal fans won’t be happy about it.
In terms of Arthur Melo, you feel it’s a deal that needs sorting. The Gunners are desperate for a new midfielder and the Brazilian ticks many a box for Mikel Arteta.
However, the days are ticking by now. If Arsenal really want this done, then they might have to just bite the bullet and let Juve dictate terms.
