After moving to Leeds United from Middlesbrough last summer, Patrick Bamford endured a frustrating start to life at Elland Road.
Injuries hampered Bamford’s progress and limited his playing time, especially as Kemar Roofe was in form when he did return.
But an unfortunate injury to Roofe has presented Bamford with a lifeline at Leeds and he has flown under the radar to spearhead their promotion charge.
Bamford scored the winner against Bristol City at the weekend to ensure Leeds remained second – two points clear of Sheffield United in the automatic spots.

It was the ex-England under-21 star’s third goal in two matches and his fourth in as many games. And Bamford is now leading the line for Leeds exceptionally well.
The 25-year-old has scored four goals in six Championship starts, with a further goal coming in two starts in the cup.
With two goals and an assist in seven substitute outings too, Bamford’s tally of six league goals in 13 matches is quite impressive for a player who has spent time a lot of time out injured this term.
Bamford is an injury doubt for Tuesday night (as per The Yorkshire Post) but provided he remains fit, he could be the striker to finally guide Leeds back to the Premier League.
