On 24 April, Liverpool produced one of their most memorable European nights at Anfield, blowing away Roma 5-2 in their first leg of the Champions League semi-final.
That famous night was six months ago today, marking perhaps the high point of Liverpool’s buoyant 2017/18 campaign.
In the spellbinding win, star man Mohamed Salah stole the show with a superb performance. The Egyptian scored two and assisted two, taking his goal tally for the season up to an astounding 43 strikes.

Yet half a year on, Salah’s fortunes are very different at Liverpool.
The winger has scored just four goals in his opening twelve matches in all competitions for the Reds, leading many to speculate whether Salah’s 2017/18 season was a one-off affair.
Many of the chances the Egyptian scored with ease last year simply don’t seem to be finding the net this time around, yet there is still no cause for alarm.
Salah’s four league goals place him third in the Premier League scoring charts, and only six players have scored more than him in top flight this year.
With Liverpool playing host to Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League tonight, it provides an excellent chance for Mohamed Salah to rediscover last season’s form — six months on from his Roma exploits.
