Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain
Unfortunately another young Englishman who needs a good pre-season, Alex has seen his career disrupted by injuries. One of the most promising wingers at the club, the 22-year-old has never really cemented a spot in the team despite his ability. With Arsenal continually linked to players such as Riyad Mahrez, who surely would make the right-wing his own, Alex could find himself a bit-part player. A role in midfield seems distant too, with the amount of players Arsenal already have there. Linked with moves elsewhere for a while now, Alex is going to have to find a way to avoid injury and stay consistent.
Serge Gnabry
The young German, bought from Stuttgart, made his Arsenal debut in 2012. Serge went on loan to West Brom last season, but didn’t really get much game time in the league. Having been named in the German Olympic squad, Serge will not be available for the start of this season, meaning he will have to shine for Germany in order to impress Arsene Wenger. Another winger who may struggle to get in the side, the 21-year-old could find himself being loaned out again, or becoming a player who fails to get near the squad for another season.
Yaya Sanogo
It seems a lifetime ago that Yaya came on to join Giroud up front to help Arsenal win the FA Cup, but despite his failure to impress many fans, Yaya did offer some help for Giroud. Signed in 2013, Yaya has had loan spells at Ajax, Charlton and Crystal Palace but didn’t really impress at any. It seems unlikely that he will feature much this season, but he does seem to be a good luck charm at Arsenal, having featured in Arsenal’s first FA cup win and Community Shield win in over 10 years. Wenger isn’t scared to play the striker, but with new strikers surely on the way, Yaya could find himself once again moved on loan. Whether it’s for development or just to get him off the books, is another question.
