Sir Alex Ferguson wowed by Rangers man who's 'magnificent' on and off the field

Glasgow Rangers manager Steven Gerrard has been praised by Sir Alex Ferguson following his efforts since joining the Ibrox outfit.

Rangers appointed the Liverpool legend in May 2018 and has done a superb job in putting together a high-quality team able to challenge for silverware.

Gerrard has had to work hard and be patient, with the 2019-20 season proving frustrating as Rangers were in Scottish Premiership contention by the winter break, only to fall away.

This season, however, the Light Blues have been relentless, cruising to their 55th title with 30 wins from 36 league games and not a single defeat.

Celtic fans left short-changed by Sky Sports once again

Ferguson told The Guardian that Gerrard’s ability to handle press conferences was something with which he has been especially impressed.

“He’s done magnificent,” the former Manchester United and Aberdeen boss said. “He really has, both on and off the field.

“A press interview can lose you your job in management. But Steven’s press conferences are fantastic.

“He’s cool, he’s composed, he gives the right answers. He’s really top because it’s an art.”

Gerrard has finally ended Rangers’ wait for a 55th league trophy, and the way the Ibrox side has completely steamrollered Scotland’s top division will go down in Gers folklore.

That said, there’s still work to do – the Light Blues were knocked out of both the Scottish League Cup and the Scottish Cup this term, by St Mirren and St Johnstone respectively.

But Gerrard has shown he knows how to handle setbacks, learn from them and come back stronger, as he did in the league between last season and the current campaign, so hopefully they can retain their title and add more silverware next term.
