Newcastle United have reportedly targeted a new left-back. As reported by the Daily Mail, Rafa Benitez has earmarked the position for improvement in January. The report suggests that Jetro Willems is the man for the job.
The report suggests the Eintracht Frankfurt man, who cost the German side £4.5 million from PSV Eindhoven in 2017, is also being tracked by Roma.
Newcastle would be getting their hands on a player with bags of pedigree. In the past, he has been linked with moves to England. In fact, Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly wanted him. In December 2011, it was reported that the then teenage Dutchman was being earmarked as a potential long-term replacement for Patrice Evra.

The Mirror even claimed Martin Ferguson, Sir Alex’s brother, was sent to run the rule over the player.
That never happened, with Willems remaining loyal to PSV until last summer.
But it shows the level of ability he clearly possesses. Newcastle United need extra cover at the left-back position and Willems could be the perfect recruit.
If he could rediscover the form that once had Sir Alex sniffing, then Newcastle might even have a special new recruit.
