Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Pedro Neto has made Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League Team of the Week for his heroics against Arsenal at the weekend.
The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for Wolves this season, registering three goals and two assists from 10 competitive appearances.
Neto joined the Molineux side last season and made 44 appearances, though 27 of those were off the bench, with five goals and five assists to his name in 2019-20.
This term, the Portugal international has kicked on massively, going from a squad rotation player to an established first-teamer with a direct influence on most of his side’s better results.
Neto was particularly impressive against the Gunners on Sunday as he played a part in both goals, netting the first and producing the shot which Daniel Podence followed up for the second.
As reward for his instrumental role in Wolves’ win, Shearer named Neto in his XI, one of two Molineux players alongside Marcal.
“Fired in the opening goal and was simply too good for Arsenal,” wrote the Newcastle and England legend. “Outstanding.”
Neto started the season slowly but has gone up the gears and the majority of his displays thus far have been impressive, a new contract until 2025 the reward for his efforts and his progress.
As well as crucial goals and assists, Neto has impressed on other counts including successful dribbles, shots, interceptions and pass accuracy, with Whoscored ranking him as the best Wolves player so far this season.
